Check Out Our New Playaways
No Cassettes. No CDs. No Downloads. Just Play.

Each Playaway holds an entire audiobook already pre-loaded on it.  Using only a few buttons, a listener can easily navigate back and forth through a chapter, adjust volume up and down, and even alter the speed of a narrator’s voice. Playaways also have an automatic bookmark feature that remembers where you stopped listening and resumes at that point when turned on again.  Playaways operate using one AAA battery that may need to be replaced before listening.  Then simply plug in headphones and enjoy.

Many of the Young Adult Playaway titles were chosen by the Hamilton-Wenham Teen Think Tank members. The purchase of Playaways for the Young Adult area were funded by the Library Services and Technology Act Serving ‘Tweens and Teens Grant.

Teen Think Tank
Thursday, October 29, 6:30-7:45pm. Come share your bright ideas! This group (for patrons ages 11-17) is the Library’s teen advisory board. The purpose of the Think Tank is to work with the Young Adult Librarian to improve the programs and services designed specifically for teens. This collaboration includes selecting books, music and movies for the young adult section; brainstorming and creating programs and special events for young adults; and helping re-design the Library’s teen space and webpage.

The time commitment is 75 minutes at 10 meetings per year, held on the last Thursday of the month (except for December and July). Lots of snacks provided.

BOM
